MEMBERSHIP HARDSHIP AWARD

    The Membership Hardship Award is established to aid SHRM-Columbus Area members in remaining members in good standing of the local Chapter during periods of unemployment.  The program is reviewed annually and will be awarded only if funds are available.  SHRM-Columbus reserves the right to cancel the program at any time.

    POLICY:

    SHRM-Columbus will budget annually for up to three (3) Hardship Awards towards assisting currently active SHRM-Columbus members.  The cost of the SHRM-Columbus membership fee will be awarded to individuals who are currently unemployed (currently $175).

    CRITERIA:

    The SHRM-Columbus member:

    • Must be current in their membership
    • Must be in good standing within the community
    • Must be willing to serve on a SHRM-Columbus committee

    PROCEDURE:

    • The SHRM-Columbus member must submit a written request to Chapter Management Professional, providing an explanation of the situation. 
    • The SHRM-Columbus Membership Committee will review and approve all Hardship Award applicants.
    • The initial hardship award will only be given for one membership year.  To renew, the member must resubmit his/her written request.

    REQUESTS ACCEPTED AND AWARDS MADE:

    • Requests may be submitted at any time.
